Cane harvesters that can operate on hilly areas identified

Mechanical cane harvesters that can be operated on hilly areas have been identified.

This was confirmed by Fiji Sugar Corporation chief executive, Graham Clarke during a talanoa session with cane growers in Drasa, Lautoka.

Clarke says they have found two mechanical harvester that can operate on slopes.

The harvesters being used currently can only operate on a flat surface.

However, Clarke says these harvesters will be 30% more expensive than the normal cane harvesters.
