Mechanical cane harvesters that can be operated on hilly areas have been identified.
This was confirmed by Fiji Sugar Corporation chief executive, Graham Clarke during a talanoa session with cane growers in Drasa, Lautoka.
Clarke says they have found two mechanical harvester that can operate on slopes.
The harvesters being used currently can only operate on a flat surface.
However, Clarke says these harvesters will be 30% more expensive than the normal cane harvesters.
