Bus services on the island of Taveuni remain suspended pending road repairs by the Fiji Roads Authority.

Taveuni Transport Manager, Operations Prakash Sami says they were told that repair works would be completed by Sunday.

However, by yesterday morning road works were not yet finished.

Sami says they are disappointed because this has resulted in students walking to school.

He says while they regret any convenience caused, they’re hoping the road works will be done.

The company wants the South Vuna Road, Delaivuna and Qarawalu Road as well as the South Cape Road to be repaired.

In North Taveuni, they want works to be done on the road from Naseleaele Village to Navakacoa.

The company suspended its services to North and South Taveuni last Thursday due to what they say are pathetic road conditions.

The company is urging the road contractors to work on the repairs quickly so they can resume their service.
