Police have confirmed the victim inside the car that plunged into the Rewa River last week is 17-year-old Tasleem Ali.

This after his body was positively identified by his uncle this afternoon.

The retraction operation was carried out in a joint effort by the Police, National Fire Authority and Navy after divers saw oil leading them to the location of the submerged vehicle.

Ali had been underwater since last Wednesday and attempts to retrieve his body and the car was unsuccessful due to unfavorable weather conditions.

It’s believed the teenager tried to overtake another vehicle but lost control, veered off the road and plunged into the swollen Rewa River.
