Successful Australian designer Sabi Sohrabi from Laureate International University says she is impressed with local designers.

Sohrabi says during one on one conversations with them, she found out that there is no lack of originality or creativity in Fiji.

She says on the other hand there are some minor issues that can be fixed by having more fashion shows like Bottega Fijian Fashion Festival.

“The challenges that they face is access to resources or manufacturing material or textiles as well as if they did not have formal training, that makes it difficult for them which is fantastic because the work the fashion council is doing will help them overcome those challenges.”

She says there are some very unique and budding designers which the council can assist to better their skills and opportunities.

The Bottega Fijian Fashion Festival hosts their final show today.

Making the catwalk today, household names Aisea Konrote for Hefrani gets the show started from 10 this morning, the renowned Hupfeld Hoerder is showing his collection from 1pm and this is happening at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.

Tonight the Fijian Fashion Festival will culminate with a group show of 11 local designers from the budding fashionistas to the well known.
