Rate payers of the Nausori Town Council have been given an amnesty period to pay up their dues.

He says this is done to ensure that the overdue amount is paid as there’s close to two million dollars’ worth of rate arrears owed to the council.

So from the beginning of this year we have put up a cabinet paper from our Ministry for the rate amnesty period that is from February to August and it’s focused only for resident’s rate payers because its only residents rate payers who are in arrears.”

The Ministry is working closely with all municipalities around the country to deal with rates arrears.
