The three operational sugar mills have crushed more cane compared to previous weeks when crushing started.

Fiji Sugar Corporation’s chief operating officer Navin Chandra says crushing at the Lautoka Sugar Mill has doubled and are crushing 4500 tonnes cane now compared to 2200 tonnes last week.

He says cane supply in Labasa has been good as well with green, quality cane supply.

“Rarawai Mill is performing on par, they are trying to get their crush rate over 4000 tonnes per day. Yesterday, they crushed 3474 tonnes and the cane supply is good in that mill as well.”

Chandra says cane supply on Sunday is still an issue and they’re urging farmers to see how they can improve the supply.

Chandra says the FSC is also looking forward to making their first shipment of sugar next month.
