Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has called on businesses to have the right attitude when dealing with the new Companies Act 2015.

Sayed-Khaiyum made this statement while speaking at a Symposium.

The new Act comes into effect next month and Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has urged companies to be open minded about the new laws.

‘’The overall rationale behind modernizing these laws is of course not for the sake of modernizing them but to ensure it captures contemporary changes in the society and also to ensure that the ease of doing business becomes a lot more easier’’.

Sayed-Khaiyum says getting feedback from the business sector is critical as there is still room for improvements.

He confirms that the work on the draft regulations is currently on going and it is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
