July 20, 2016 5:53 pm

The Medical Services Pacific has received 3230 calls on the National Child Helpline from February to June this year of which 364 were genuine calls.

MSP Senior Counsellor – Jiokapeci Baledrokadroka says most calls were received from adults who were concerned about a child’s welfare and to report child abuse cases.

Baledrokadroka says of all the genuine calls 244 were from women and 120 from men.

203 of these cases have been solved while the remaining 161 cases are being attended to by the counselors.

Medical Services Pacific, which runs the helpline, says there’s been an increase in the number of calls, because of extensive awareness carried out in schools around Fiji.
