The Minister of Civil Aviation, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has appointed an accident investigator to investigate the AS350 Helicopter accident in Beqa that occurred on Monday last week.
The appointment has been made under the provisions of the Civil Aviation (Occurrence Reporting and Investigation) Regulations 2009.
The Civil Aviation Authority says the investigator will report directly to the Ministry on the progress of the accident investigation and is responsible for the preparation of a final accident report.
A helicopter conducting aerial work had foreign object debris strike the main rotor blades on landing causing damage to the main rotor blades and tail rotor.
Three helicopter crew members were in the vicinity of the helicopter when it crashed and there were no casualties or injuries.
