A new lease of life for young mothers: Vuniwaqa

In an effort to create a culture of being financially independent, the Ministry of Women and the Government of Japan have embarked on a life changing project for young mothers and girls who have been accommodated at the Homes of Hope.

Minister for Women Mereseini Vuniwaqa yesterday opened a newly renovated training labs for bakery, cookery, sewing which will assist young mothers and girls.

Vuniwaqa says this is a new lease of life for these women at the Homes of Hope as now they can attend networked training institutions and obtain certificates.

“They are training girls to be smart money managers and capable entrepreneurs using hands on training and cash in hand practical business processors .For this purpose there are five learning labs on this residential campus-bakery, guest house, farm, sewing station and market place.”

The project is funded by the Japanese government at a cost of $200,000.
