An estimated six hundred people in the country are suffering from filariasis or complications from the infection.

According to the Health Ministry – there are still more people out there who suffer from filariasis but have not come forward for check-up or treatment.

In an effort to prevent filariasis….the Health Ministry has been able to distribute the tablets to at least 450,000 people.

Thousands of people are yet to receive their filariasis tablets….something the Ministry is now working on.

The main challenge however is identifying those who carry the disease.

Dr Mike Kama says when the disease enters into the secondary stage that’s where it allows for prevention of the complications.
