Acting Commissioner of Police ACP Itendra Nair says they have sought assistant from the Fiji Navy in investigating following the recent discovery in the Lau Group.

“As far as our investigation is concerned I have approached our Commander Navy and he has agreed that he will assist us with all the capabilities that he has and for us to send 10 officers – so that we can further intensify this investigation. I think all in all what we are trying to say here is that these citing of drugs which are popping up on the beaches in these two places now, there can be future citing of this.”

The Navy will be providing a ship to Police so that investigating officers can be taken to the Lau Group.

ACP Nair says it is highly likely the drugs were being transited through the Pacific and were not intended for Fiji as has been the trend in the past.
