The Consumer Council has received 30 complaints against low quality meat and rotten fruit and vegetables since January.
Council Chief Executive Seema Shandil says they have received 17 complaints against low quality meat while 13 complaints were against rotten fruit and vegetables.
Shandil says with a lot of shopping expected this Easter weekend, their officers will be on the ground monitoring supermarkets and other retailers.

The Consumer Council has been working together with municipal councils to inspect supermarkets around the country and to identify traders engaged in unscrupulous trade practices.
