11 children with congenital heart disease undergo surgery

Eleven children with heart diseases have undergone surgeries at the CWM hospital.

76 children were screened at the new children’s heart screening center at the Sri Satya Sai Sanjeevani Medical Center in Suva.

The foundation together with India based Saneejvani hospital and the Ministry of Health have organized free heart surgeries for children.

Sai Prema Foundation Coordinator Dr Krupali Tappoo says the international medical team consists of members from India, Australia, United States, and Oman.

Dr Tappoo says this is the third time the foundation has coordinated these free heart surgeries.

The team is expected to carry out 20 surgeries this week.

Meanwhile, the medical team also celebrated Skylar Lee’s 8th birthday, who underwent open heart surgery on Monday.

According to Dr Tappoo, Lee was recently diagnosed with congenital heart disease.
