There are more than 120 qualified female directors in Fiji, however, not all of them hold that position.

Speaking to women this week, Fijian Holdings Limited Chief Executive Nouzab Fareed says 70% of these women are jobless.

“Jobless in the sense that they are qualified directors but they are not becoming directors. Not because of any of us, it is because of their bosses.”

In supporting gender equality, Fareed says every year, they put out advertisements for qualified female directors.

He says in total they have 36% female group directors.

Fareed reiterates that more needs to be done to recognize females in workplaces.
