The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission is developing an E-registration system which aims to bring ease for landlords registering.

Chief Executive Joel Abraham says surveys reveal that a low number of landlords have registered with the Commission following the introduction of the rent freeze in 2007.

Abraham says they have engaged the services of an Australian based IT firm to develop the system which is expected to go live soon.

“At this point in time it is still on our website people can come and register or fill the registration and send it through but unfortunately people are not doing that. We are hoping with the new automated system where people don’t have to fill the form so maybe it will help a lot of landlords.”

Abraham says once it goes live more people will be able to register.
