Widening the scope on research and data collection is very critical for businesses.

The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation says this is one of their major focus for the first quarter of the year.

FCEF Chief Executive, Nesbitt Hazelman, says with the inclusion of things such as family leave and additional parental leave given to the employees, the need to have a research unit around these sorts of issues is important.

“We know that the Bureau of Statistics does this sorts of research but their research is so limited in focus in a particular area .We need to widen this a bit .All these things affect business on a daily business and they need information on this .”

Apart from the need to establish a unit, the federation will also focus on enhancing business skills for young entrepreneurs.
