The six athletes who represented the country to the Special Olympics in USA were hosted to a luncheon in Suva today in honor of their medal-winning achievement.

Fiji won a total of three gold, four silver and three bronze medals at the competition.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou says the country was proud of the athlete’s rare achievement at the world meet.

“Today’s celebration is an honor for each and every one of your regardless of whether or not you won medals. You deserve all our appreciation.”

Present at the event today were the athlete’s family members and officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The athletes were each handed a cash voucher to honor their achievement.
