South Africa eyes Dubai title

The South Africa 7s side hopes for a winning start in Dubai as they are the defending World Rugby Series champions.

The Blitzboks took the title in a 24-12 win over New Zealand last year for their second crown in Dubai.

Captain Phillip Snyman says they’re ready for the challenge.

“It’s the fact and it’s the main aim of this season to qualify for the Olympic Games. Obviously we still want to be successful and we still want to retain that number one position but it’s also qualifying of the Olympic Games and if we manage to win the series we will qualify automatically.”

South Africa is pooled with Argentina, Samoa and Zimbabwe.
