Overseas players on Baber's radar for London tournament

May 8, 2018 12:03 am

Fiji Airways men’s 7s coach Gareth Baber will wait for the results from French Top 14 clubs before naming his squad for the London and Paris tournaments next month.

T14 clubs such as Racing 92, Toulouse and Toulon which has players in contention for the World Cup, are currently in top four.

Baber says he is likely to include overseas players and test them in the last two tournaments before the World Cup in July.

“Yes there is a possibility of that but obviously we have to find out exactly where they are. I mean these guys have played 20 to 30 games for their clubs this season so now there is issues of injuries, fatigue and what I want to do is to make sure if they are in they produce results for Fiji.”

Baber has revealed that Leone Nakarawa, Semi Radradra, Josua Tuisova, Semi Kunatani and Glasgow Warriors utility back Nikola Matawalu have shown the interest to part of the World Cup team in USA.

Meanwhile, Fiji is grouped with New Zealand, Scotland and Argentina in the London 7s which will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of next month.
