Northland rugby team has been crowned the champions of the Vodafone Vanua Cup challenge after beating Tailevu 8-6 in the final at Ratu Cakobau Park last night.

Tailevu started the game well taking a 6-3 lead at the halftime mark.

Etonia Rokotulsawa kicked a drop goal for Tailevu while Jese Tububanaruarua slotted in a penalty kick.

Northland prop Dan Ligairi scored the winning and only try for his in the second spell.

Meanwhile, both teams have been promoted to the Skipper Cup next season.
In the Under-20 division of the Vanua Championship, Nasinu thumped Serua 39-14.
