Nasinu Secondary School defeated Queen Victoria School 16-12 in the first round of the South East Under-19 rugby league competition in Suva this afternoon.
As last year’s champions, Nasinu had to defend the Bati Tanoa Shield against the boys from Vulinitu.
Eight schools are competing in the Under-19, 17 and 15 grades with the top four schools to go through to the national competition.
In other results, Ratu Latianara Secondary School lost to Lomaivuna High School 22-20.
In the Under-17 grade, Latter Day Saints beat Assemblies of God High School 12-8.
In the Under-15 grade, Dudley High School lost to Nasinu Secondary 14-4 and Assemblies of God defeated Cathedral Secondary 12-4.
The competition will continue next Saturday at Marcellin Primary School in Vatuwaqa.
