Fiji will host more international indoor events once the competition of the Vodafone Arena in Laucala, Bay Suva.

Fiji Sports Commission Chair Peter Mazey says the arena is under refurbishment to host the World Junior Weightlifting Championship this year as well as other upcoming tournaments.

“The Vodafone arena will host the World Weightlifting and is no longer a one-room event. You’ll see that we are building onto the Vodafone arena two more indoor courts. That is also for Netball and a full international court being built onto the arena which will also be indoors.”

Peter Mazey says the upgrade also targets economic growth in terms of sports tourism.
