Lautoka four points away from securing VPL title

The Lautoka football side needs four wins from the remaining six matches to secure this year’s Vodafone Premier League title.

The Blues lead with 22 points from eight matches and have a seven point gap from the second placed Rewa on the points table.

Lautoka last won the title in 2009.

Fiji Football Association Chief Executive, Mohammed Yusuf says, the League is expected to heat up with spots in the OFC Champions League and Pacific Cup on the line.

“Looking at the qualification for the Pacific Cup in New Zealand in November. At the moment, Nadi and Rewa have ten points each, Lautoka is there with four points but will go to nine if they win the League. Some interesting matches are expected this weekend.”

Lautoka takes on Rakiraki at 3pm at Churchill Park on Sunday.

In other matches, Rewa plays Dreketi at 3.30pm on Saturday at Labasa’s Subrail Park before which Labasa takes on Suva at 1.30pm.

At the same venue on Sunday, Dreketi plays Suva at 1.30pm after which Labasa battles Rewa at 3.30pm.

In another match on Saturday, Ba hosts Nadi at 3pm at Govind Park and you can catch a live commentary of the match on Radio Fiji Two, with the voice of soccer, Raymond Stoddart.
