FRU not aware of Fiji 7s squad released by FASANOC for Commowealth Games

The Fiji Rugby Union is not aware of the national 7s twenty-four member list released by FASANOC today.

FRU Chief Executive John O’Connor says they have not received any list which consists of players like Osea Kolinisau, Samisoni Viriviri, Kitione Taliqa, Semi Radradra, Leone Nakarawa, Nikola Matawalu and Josua Tuisova.

In an interview with FBC Sports last month, Nakarawa did confirmed his unavailability, saying April will be a crucial month for clubs in French Top 14.

With him, Toulon’s Josua Tuisova and Semi Radradra will also be in doubt for the Commonwealth Games.

Meanwhile, FASANOC has released its list and Chef de mission Patrick Bower says athletes who did not make the cut has forty-eight hours to appeal.

“The tribunal will be called to meet after the 48 hours hence the closing business on 4pm Monday afternoon. The appeals will be taken to the tribunal and the panel meet will be there to answer to what they’re lodging following the committee will make the final decision. If it’s a fair complaint or those of who have been selected have been selected and deserve to stay in the team. ”

The appeal closes at 4pm Monday.

The numbers will be trimmed down once the national federations finalised their squad lists.

The Commonwealth Games runs through the 4th to the 15th of April in Gold Coast, Australia.
