Suva tops Group, qualifies for IDC semifinals

The Suva football team topped Group B after beating Rewa 2-1 to qualify for the Courts IDC semifinals at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

Rewa needed a win while Suva just needed a draw to qualify but the Capital City side managed a win to qualify as Group winners.

Sairusi Nalaubu opened the account in the 66th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

The Delta Tigers came back into the game and equalised through Gabiriele Matanasiga.

Suva replied three minutes later through Gagame Feni to make sure the Whites take maximum points from their final pool match.

Nadi has qualified from that pool as runners-up after they defeated Nasinu 1-0.

The goal came from their captain Rusiate Matarerega from the penalty spot.

The match currently underway is between Ba and Labasa and both teams are locked at nil-all.

Ba has already qualified from this Group and Labasa needs a draw to qualify for the semifinals.

If Labasa manages to beat Ba then the Babasiga Lions will qualify as Group winners while Ba will go through as runners-up and if Labasa manages a draw then Ba tops the Group and the northerners go through as runners-up.

If Labasa loses against Ba then Lautoka will go through as runners-up with Ba as Group winners.

Looking at the Senior division, the Nadroga football team has topped its pool after holding Navua to a one-all draw.

Nadroga has advanced into the semifinals as pool winners and will face Savusavu in the second semifinal at 1.30pm on Saturday.

Navua has qualified as runners-up from that pool and will face Lami in the first semifinal at 11am on Saturday.
