Fiji footballer Roy Krishna and Trina Davis are leading the race for the 2018 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year award.

Trina Davis’ arrival into the women’s side boosted the team’s performance last year and she is seen as a key player for the squad.

Fiji FA chief executive Mohammed Yusuf says Davis arrived to Fiji with a passion to play football which is reflected in her nomination.

“She came like a cyclone into the Fijian Senior women’s team at the age of only 17-year old. That’s why we decided to nominate her in the Fiji Sportswomen of the year.”

Meanwhile, Fijian wonder boy Roy Krishna has also been recognised as a top contender for the Sportsman of the year award.

The Wellington Star Striker broke few records for his A-League club Phoenix earlier this year.

Krishna has also been an instrumental player for his club’s seven consecutive wins scoring most of its winning goals.

The Fiji Sports Award event will be hosted at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva next Friday.
