The Fiji Football Association is expecting to revive Beach soccer in the country after they failed to make an entry into the OFC Championship this year.

Due to less entries, OFC has been forced to postpone the Beach Soccer Championship which was supposed to be played in Tahiti from 15th to the 22nd of next month.

Fiji FA Chief Executive, Mohammed Yusuf says lack of beach competition in the country was the reason they opted to stay out of the championship this year.

“We did not enter for the Tahiti one which has now been postpone simply because we are not having any beach soccer around the country and I think there is a plan to do a tournament in December which will be district wise and once we get the hold of a ground there is highly likely chance for us entering in the OFC Championship.”

Only host Tahiti, Solomon Islands and Tonga has so far entered for the tournament.

The OFC Beach Soccer will now take place next year.
