Eleider Alvarez scored an upset on Saturday by stopping Sergey Kovalev by technical knockout in the seventh round to claim Kovalev’s share of the light heavyweight championship in Atlantic City.

The Guardian reports, Alvarez dropped Kovalev three times in the seventh round before the referee intervened while the Russian was attempting to beat the count.

The unbeaten Colombian landed 73 of 251 punches (29%) compared to 91 of 339 for Kovalev

Alvarez remained unbeaten in his 24 fights and had 12 Kos.
