A 57 year old woman is dead and two others admitted in hospital after they sustained burns whilst cooking.

Police say the woman was cooking dhal over firewood inside her kitchen when she got burnt.

Her 60 year old husband and 35 year old son came to her rescue but also got burnt.

All three were rushed to the Nadi hospital before being transferred to the Burns Unit in Lautoka Hospital.

The incident happened last Friday and the woman passed away on Saturday, suffering from 85 per cent burns.

The matter was reported to police yesterday and investigations into the matter continue.

Members of the public are encouraged to report such matters to police at the earliest to allow for initial investigations to take its toll.
