Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says that they will not roll back to the cash and card system being used simultaneously just because there are few problems with the e-ticketing system.

Sayed-Khaiyum says these are teething issues that are not insurmountable, they are solvable.

“We need to be able to go ahead with it. The moment you say tomorrow that we are going to have cash and also e-ticketing card, people who are have been paying cash since the 1950s, what do you think they’ll do, will they make the switch?”

Sayed-Khaiyum says that when the two runs at the same time, there will be no accountability as half of the people will pay cash and the other half pay through e-ticketing.

He adds that these issues are not major.
