A commercial bank has launched a new initiative to educate customers on the need to save money.

Public Service Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand says this will help provide retirees a sense of purpose of how well prepared they can be once they are out of the workforce.

Chand says the opportunities offered by the banking sector will assist greatly in connecting retirees and relevant stakeholders.

Newly appointed Westpac General Manager Fiji Adrian Hughes says savings for retirement should start from the first day you join any workforce.

“You start thinking about retirement when you first got your income and you should start planning for it from the beginning”.

More than ten other organizations were part of today’s event, raising awareness to members of the public on their retirement plans.
