The Agriculture Ministry says it will ensure its new allocated budget is put to good use.

This is after an allocation of $96.8m was allocated to the ministry from the 2018/2019 budget announcement last night.

Minister responsible, Inia Seruiratu says the new allocation also comes with responsibilities.

“Government is realizing again the importance of the Agriculture sector in terms of providing food and nutrition security for our people in terms of providing employment and off course looking at the economic contribution particularly to GDP. We are thankful for what government has allocated but that also comes with responsibilities and we will take responsibility in ensuring that the budget is well utilized."

The Ministry’s new budget is an increase of more than ten million dollars.
