Visitor numbers from Fiji’s traditional market, Australia, dropped by two percent last year in comparison to 2016.

Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary, Shaheen Ali says the growing numbers from these two countries are mainly due to the increased connectivity.

Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association, President, Dixon Seeto adds the hoteliers are ready to cater for the growing demands.

“During the peaks certain resorts are full but I think the trick is to make sure that the hotels and resorts are full all year around not just during certain seasons.”

Seeto believes more needs to be done to fully capitalize on the arrivals in order to make the industry more buoyant and sustainable.
