Temporary road closure in Suva for Modi state visit

Members of the public in the greater Suva area can expect some disruption to their travel time tomorrow with the temporary closure of some roads for the visit of the Indian Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives at 5.30am at Nausori Airport tomorrow.

To facilitate his visit, authorities have announced that some roads will be temporarily closed.

These include the Wainibokasi Road and the Kings highway.

Cakobau Road ,Southern Cross Road, Victoria Parade from Southern Cross Road to Cakobau Road Queen Elizabeth Drive – from the junction of Ratu Sukuna Road.

FRA Project engineer Zaina Khan is advising the public to expect delays and to allow for extra travel time when travelling in the area or to plan travel into Suva using alternative routes during the indicated times.

The public can also use footpaths to welcome Modi.

All commuters and motorists are advised to use alternative road routes as movements or access into these will be strictly restricted at all times due to security reasons.

Modi will be accorded a traditional welcome ceremony at Albert Park in Suva.

He will also address Parliament and you can watch live coverage of the ceremonies on FBC TV starting at 9am.
