Sexual offences in North a concern

Sexual offences is becoming a major concern for the Northern Division.
Police acting Chief Operations ACP Maritino Qiolevu says they have received quite a number of reports to date and what’s even more worrying is that the victim and perpetrator are related.
ACP Qiolevu says equally worrying is the involvement of juveniles in sexual offences.
He says women and children should feel safe in their homes and it is incumbent on everyone to help address this issue.
“If you notice worrying signs, don’t just look the other way. Let us know because we want to do more than just receive reports once the offence has occurred and we want to be proactive and prevent it from happening.”
ACP Qiolevu was speaking at the closing of the Digicel Duavata Crime Prevention Carnival in Labasa over the weekend.
