Chief executive, Samuel Simpson while raising his concerns warned motorists to refrain from illegal operations.

“Illegal operation is part of our enforcement activity. We do look at illegal operators, we do go after them and we will prosecute them.”

Simpson says they are concerned with the manipulation of taxi meters in the private vehicles and have begun an investigation together with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service in relation to non-payment of tax on illegal earnings.

Five out of the 56 vehicles impounded contravene License Rental registration while 51 were private vehicles.
