Roads remain inaccessible due to flooding

The Queens Road is currently closed at Sigatoka due to flooding.

Kings Road is closed at Rakiraki as flood debris are being cleared for access this morning.

Road between Rakiraki and Korovou are still closed due to landslide and flooding.

The Kasavu Road near the Baulevu Road Junction on Kings Road is open to light vehicles only and operating as a single lane with potential for full closure if there are further slips.

The Kasavu slip has taken a great portion of the road and it isn’t wide enough to allow larger vehicles including heavy goods vehicles, buses and carriers through at the moment.

Nawaikama on Jetty Road in Gau is closed as well.

The Fiji Roads Authority says potholes have increased on roads and the contractors will be carrying out remedial work as soon as possible.

Other roads are still fully closed and impassable at this stage and motorists have been warned not to drive through water as the depth is hard to gauge.

Meanwhile the Waibula Bridge in Taveuni, which was flooded yesterday, is now cleared up.

Taveuni Police confirms access to the bridge and nearby roads is open open.

The landslide in Lavena which reduced the road to a single lane is being cleared up by the Fulton Hogan Hiways this morning.
