Two people have died in separate road accidents in the last forty eight hours.

A six year old girl was a passenger in a vehicle which veered off the road and landed in a sugarcane farm in Tavua yesterday afternoon while a 49 year old woman died after being hit by a car in Vishnu Deo Road in Nakasi Nasinu on Friday night.

Police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri is advising drivers to be more vigilant when driving.

The road death toll now stands at 48 compared to 37 for the same period last year.
