A man is expected to appear in the Nausori Magistrates Court today charged with 2 counts of rape.

He’s accused of raping an 8 year old girl on several occasions between May and June 2012, after entering her room at night.

The victim informed her relatives last week.

Chief of Operations and Assistant Police Commissioner Henry Brown says the number of cases against children is becoming a major concern.

Recently cases involving children have surfaced, renewing a call from Police for proactive measures to protect the young and innocent.
