Pre-trial date set for former ILSC Secretary

A former Secretary of the Independent Legal Services Commission, who is charged with falsification of documents and obtaining financial advantage offences amounting to $3450, appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Afrana Nisha was charged in August by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.

Nisha is alleged to have committed the offences between July 1st and 2nd August, 2012 where she allegedly forged the signature of the Solicitor General – Sharvada Sharma with intent to obtain a gain, by falsifying the cheque.

She is also alleged to have prepared a cheque and forged the signature of one Ana Tuiketei and thereafter directed one Vandhana Raj to cash the cheque.

The matter is set for pre-trial conference and Defence has to prepare the agreed facts in the next court sitting.

The case has been adjourned to the 22nd of next month.
