Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an Asian national on board a fishing vessel in the Tahitian waters.

Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri says the man is alleged to have been killed by another crew member – who is now in police custody.

The incident is alleged to have happened on the 30th of last month.

The vessel ran aground on a reef near Gau while on it’s way to Fiji and the crew were rescued by a passenger boat yesterday.
