Planned power outage

April 13, 2012 7:05 pm

A planned power outage is scheduled for Sunday 15th of April from 3pm to 4pm to make way for the live tests on the new electrical installation and equipment of the Nadarivatu Hydro Power Scheme.

The Fiji Electricity Authority says this is part of preparatory works for the full commissioning of the scheme.

To enable FEA to undertake these tests, the 132,000 volts transmission line from the Wailoa Hydro Power Station to the Vuda Switchyard will need to be isolated and de-energized.

This means that FEA will not be able to supply electricity from the Wailoa Hydro Power Station to the Western Region of VitiLevu, and will rely on its Diesel Power Stations at Sigatoka, Qeleloa, Nadi, Vuda, Rakiraki and the Independent Power Producer (Tropik Woods) to supply electricity to customers in the West from the Sigatoka district to the Rakiraki district.

FEA is also taking this opportunity to carry out urgent maintenance work in some areas.
