July 29, 2018 6:57 pm

The people of Vanua Levu can expect better internet speed within the next three to four months.

Vodafone Chief Operating Officer Ronald Prasad says the North is now connected via submarine fibre optic cable landing in Savusavu and they are in the process of extending this to Labasa and various other parts of the Northern Division.

Prasad says this is the first time the people of the North will be connected via submarine fibre cable to the rest of the world.

“In simple terms what it means is that within the next three to four months, once that is extended to parts of Labasa and to other part sf the North people in Labasa will be able to experience far greater speeds on the internet.”

Prasad says the submarine fibre cable will also enable the people of the North to access e-government services which should be rolled out in the next six to eight months.
