Employers lost millions of dollars due to the uncertainty created by rumors of a coup on September 23rd.

Employment Minister Parveen Kumar while responding to the President’s speech said the rumor also led to the closure of some schools for more than the day, with cost and loss of teaching time affecting students.

“When we spread rumors and false news about our economy, the hurt is more severe on our workers, on their families, and on all the Fijian families and let us not forget that.”

Kumar claims this has psychologically damaged some Fijians.

He adds MPs should work together to ensure the security and the stability of Fiji.
