Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has labeled calls for his resignation as nothing but conceited acts by some members of the Opposition.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has labelled calls for his resignation as nothing but conceited acts by some members of the Opposition.

Bainimarama says he was informed on Sunday that the Opposition will be demanding that he resign when parliament sits this week.

Speaking to FBC News yesterday, Bainimarama said this arises from the Opposition’s lack of ideas to contribute effectively to Parliamentary debate.

“That’s a conceited effort by the opposition to do that. In fact, they should resign.”

On Monday, Opposition Leader Sitiveni Rabuka, Whip Lynda Tabuya, and fellow MP Niko Nawaikula called for the Prime Minister’s resignation.

The Prime Minister will give his right of reply in Parliament on Friday.
