No shops spared in Nadi town flooding

April 7, 2012 5:04 am

An FBC Reporter who walked through the main shopping center of the Nadi town says there is not a shop that has been spared by the flood.

Deep water flowed through many of the shops in the central business district.

It’s obvious from the massive clean-up that nearly all shops have lost their entire stock.

Teams of workers are going from shop to shop cleaning out damaged goods, silt and mud with rubbish being taken to a temporary rubbish dump near Prince Charles Park.

Our reporter says it’s beginning to smell.

MH’s in Nadi was open from 2pm to 6pm and locals flopped to Namaka to replenish their Easter purchases.

By early afternoon all car parks and side roads in Namaka town center were over flowing.

There was a jam on the main road and police came to control the traffic.

The curfew will be back in place at 6pm and clean-up will resume tomorrow.
