TD04F upgraded to Tropical Cyclone Mona

Tropical Depression 04F has upgraded to a Tropical Cyclone.

Fiji Meteorological Services acting director, Viliame Vereivalu confirms Tropical Cyclone Mona has formed to the North of Rotuma.

Vereivalu says TC Mona is located 150km North of Rotuma and about 730km North of Nadi.

Vereivalu says the system may bring damaging gale force winds over Rotuma in the next 12 to 18 hours.

Damaging gale force winds is expected in the next 24 to 48 hours for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and the Lomaiviti Group.

A Tropical Cyclone Alert remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and the Lomaiviti Group.
