MSAF addresses incidents at sea

The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji confirms they are continuing investigation into two serious incidents at sea this year.

These are the death of a petty officer in Ono-i-Lau and the death of a fisherman.

MSAF says the fishermen died following an incident involving the MV Joseph P and a fishing boat.

MSAF also says they had conducted a preliminary investigation on the maritime accident in Nabouwalu on 30th July this year.

The Authority adds they cannot disclose any details until the completion of the full investigation.

Meanwhile, the collision of the MV Ohana and the Lomaiviti Princess VIII has been addressed and MSAF has closed the case.

They are also collaborating with Police in their investigations and working with the Consumer Council of Fiji to address customer complaints.
