In March, more than 1,300 families within the Korovou to Rakiraki corridor are expected to have electricity after being connected to the Fiji Electricity Authority’s grid.

Department of Energy’s Acting Director – Mikaele Belena explained to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs that this project was possible with the commissioning of a new power station.

“We starting to pull the grid to the communities within the Korovou to Rakiraki corridor so the grid includes the extension from Malabi to Waimecia and this will benefit around 1300 households.”
